Dino Egg Link
“Who in there right mind would farm pterodactyls?”
Satan City forest glimmered a range of verdant hues as Will sat anchored overhead in the sky. The local egg farmer was rather adamant that a fertile egg had been robbed and his sole Terástios Pterodactyl, known for their larger size and even larger gourmet eggs, had had its egg stolen. If that was the case, the nest and the culprit was likely in the forest now only hours after the incident. Given the time of year, at least according to the farmer, predatory hunters such as the paozusaurus were known to store food away for possibly harsh seasons. An egg like this would certainly be a meal sometime soon but Will luckily had more than enough time to hunt it down. That is unless the last spring frost came early for this part of the world.
Her eyes swept over the forest and began scanning for power signatures. Given the animal sizes here their more complex and giant size would make up for their lack of innate powers demonstrated by humans of above average skill.
“9… 16… 21… 13… 5… 10- Ah!” Will gave a yip of success as she spotted the mountainous rock outcrop which was apparently still inhabited.
This was where the farmer said he was dubious that a lone girl could accomplish even after she had bench pressed his beat up old truck to prove she was more than capable. And after proving to him she wasn’t the ghost of Cell in disguise… He had been expecting a small team of dinosaur hunters to respond to his ad after all. But after she threatened to blow up his truck he relented and gave her the details. Terras, the Terástios Pterodactyl would be less the obliging to allow her to inspect the nest without a scarf with his scent on it. Even then the reptile would be less that agreeable to a small girl; though that that barely gave Will a concern. No it was her foe and tracking him down.
Giving a little shrug Will began her descent into the forest, letting the wind carry her closer to the outcropping of stone.
The cool air felt nice against her skin, even with so much of it no longer real skin, the feeling itself was revitalizing. But the mood was quite suddenly, and annoyingly so, ruined by two things.
The first was the smell of crisp pine disappearing with a shift of the air current. Instead the closest thing she could think the odor was like was as if someone had mixed a chicken coop with that of rotten ham and oranges and then increased the size by a factor of ten.
However the second thing was more worrisome, the reptile in question was perched on the edge of a cliff and was… Mooing? At least that was what it sounded like, how such a thing was possible or was supposed to be was beyond her mind. It was a reptile and it was mooing in a long, low and booming communicative moans. The reason the brown being was upset apparent in relatively short order.
There was evidence of the destruction as far away as five hundred feet away. Heavy claw marks looked to be symptomatic of shattered stone. The paozusaurus had apparently created a ramp to which to climb up onto the nesting fortress of stone. In the process it caused a small avalanche which had partially crushed half the nest. That explained the smell, remnants of egg and of baby dino bits which were splashed across the rock-side.
Yum, Will thought sardonically.
Beyond that, tracking the offending monster was going to be easy, the forest was strewn with debris and the talon marks of a heavy bipedal beast. Paozusaurus, check, giant unhappy pterodactyl, check…
Will’s eyes followed the path of devastation that lead back into the forest and she felt the numbers in her head mark a powerful foe. Roughly a mile away, two power signatures existed, one weak like a cooling egg and the other an egg snatcher.
“Check”
Given that she had her answers now, invading the nest right currently wouldn’t be very smart. Better to secure the egg first and deal with the mother after that. With her plan and course set Will gave the nest a wide berth and pushed herself north where the snatcher had moved, this time fighting the wind and getting a good scent of the lair well before she could even see it. Typical of bullies. Be the biggest bastard in the forest and nothing would touch you. Or at least that’s what you think.
Will pushed harder and began to move quicker, gliding over the forest quietly yet swiftly. The further in she got though the harder the path she was following became. Eventually though the android was forced to go on power levels alone. The smaller one dropped another point, which only spurned her on faster as the smell gained the potency of a small disgusting god.
Yeesh, can’t these creatures take baths?
Nausea flared into being as the odiferous aroma reached a climax and not in a fun way either.
Will had found a clearing that stretched out below her for a good fifty feet in diameter, there were ramparts along the entire length and large pit near the center. Whatever had built this was big, but second it was smart. That didn’t bode well on either asp-
A darkness had suddenly descended upon Will with a humid wind and a chomp.
“What the hell?” Will screamed and instantly regretted it. The smell outside was an aroma therapy pageant compared to the rotted meat and digestive gases that were bubbling up around her. Her brain refused to think. What was going on? And then the air disappeared, not that was terribly concerning but she was instantly wet as a powerful pressure pushed her down a fleshy pipe of some sort. It was only by working her capacity to fly and a quick hand that she managed to grab some sort of ledge of flap half way down whatever this pipe was.
That apparently was big mistake on her part. Everything went pear shaped as a powerful gurggling roar blasted through her feet, through her chest and out of her head and repeated. It was only then that she realized that her quarry had actually had the audacity to sneak up on her and swallow her whole.
She gripped harder and pulled up.
The theory was proven as the quaking got worse.
Will climbed in.
The whole world began violently rippling as if its life depended on it, because it likely did on the beast’s part. And that confirmed that she had found the airway. Flesh air was suddenly blasted into face, well as fresh as one could get from a dinosaur’s lung.
The spongy material provoked a reaction that could have given a nuclear detonation envy the moment her weight fell upon it. Thunderous impacts were blasting through the flesh as the paozusaurus was probably throwing itself against large heavy objects to try and dislodge her.
“Tough luck!” Will crowed, her voice drowned by the roaring and the impacts. Regardless she began drawing on her Core.
Light began to build revealing the pink-grey flesh that was quickly reddening with inflammation. More power was needed, more energy. She curled into a ball to better withstand the impacts and energy grew deeper in her chest. The collisions were worse now and Will forced her flight to anchor her in place to keep her stable. It was bloody distracting even with the aid of hikou. If she had been human she’d have been bruised by now, if not royally dead…
There.
The ki eclipsed her ability to hold it in such a sensitive place and she threw her body open, arms and legs stretched wide, a scream echoing from her own lungs within the beast’s lung. Everything lurched and was ripped away. Blood and gore splattered on everything except Will and she pushed in all directions.
A death knell shattered her ears as this particular section of the forest was just plain painted a shade of red.
Her breath was hot.
The paozusaurus was no more.
She felt alive.
Will wanted to heave every meal she had in the last week. The smell of bowls was added to the mix after the intestinal track impacted upon a crushed tree and its sharp shattered shards.
In short order though she was forced to begin her search for the egg which was hopefully not crushed.

An hour later Will had still been completely and totally soaked in various bodily fluids and absolutely disgusted. It had taken all of her mental effort to deal with the sight that met her after being swallowed and escaping. And then there was the matter of making the Pterodactyl nest ideal to handling a soon be born hatchling. Luckily the farmer was there to give his aid as the scarf he had provided was ruined beyond any help of fooling the mamma reptile of who Will was. This of course left Will to do the heavy lifting but still, it was better than getting eaten a second time in one day.
Another two hours later she was clean but still swear that she smelled of dino entrails despite what the farmer said to the contrary and two repeated uses of his showed and a dip in the local lake.
On the fourth hour Will, now paid in full, was certain that she would never take up any quest related to aiding dinosaurs ever again.
Never Again.
