New Members Guide
Let me be the first to welcome you to Dragonball: Retribution! If you’re reading this then you’re likely entertaining the idea of sticking around and becoming a member, or you’ve already decided to do so; in that case, brilliant! This thread is designed to take you through all the relevant information on site systems, recommendations and everything you’ll need to know when considering joining the site, all in an easy to read, step-by-step detailed guide.
I hope it's helpful!
1) Your first decision when joining the site, if you haven’t made it already, is whether or not you want to be a Canon Character or an Original Character. If you’re considering a Canon, then you should check out our Canon List, which includes all the up-to-date currently taken and free Canon Characters from the series. If you wish to be an Original Character, then you may wish to check out our Guide to Races, which includes detailed information on every available race on the site, as well as Racial Traits/Abilities. Other information that may help you decide can be found on the Planets & Locations guide.
2) Next you may wish to check out the sites Backstory, which explains the events leading up to the start of the site. It also includes links to a prequel thread and to rules for the Backstory. Also, you should also check out the Rules & Guidelines to the site, which go into detail about everything you’ll need to know.
3) With all that in mind, you’re now ready to complete a Joining Application! It’s a simple form, so it shouldn’t take long for you to fill out. When you have completed it, post it here and a member of staff will look at it for you, where they will either approve it or suggest changes that may need to be made. An approval of a potential application should take no more than 4 days for a member of staff to look at, and that’s a guarantee from us. After this, you’re now officially a member!
4) At this point you may wish to create your character their own personal Character Biography. Within your own Character Biography you are able to put any information relating to your character that you see fit, customising it in whatever way you like. Two examples that may help you get an idea of what you can potentially do are Luka’s and Gohan’s.
5) Now that you’re accepted and ready to go, you’ll want your character to start growing towards becoming a site Legend! There are a few ways to go about this, and they are by completing Quests, Personal-Role-Plays and Battles. Each has their advantages, give their own rewards, and differ greatly from each other. Another useful system to check out, which link to Quests, is the Travelling thread. By Travelling to new planet locations and even new planets, you open a variety of new Quests, Items and options for your character!
6) The rewards you gain from your Quests, PRPs and Battles will go directly towards your Stats, as will any Equipment bonuses you may have. The Stats & Equipment guide will tell you everything that you need to know about the different types of Equipment, all the Stats that you can upgrade and what they specifically do. It may help you decide which direction you wish to take your own character.
7) To further help you decide which path you want your character to walk, we have a number of Professions for your character to pick from, each focusing primarily on a different Stat. Progression through your Profession can be monitored by our Profession XP Chart, and the further you progress up the chart the more your character will benefit, not only in that chosen stat, but from several rewards that are unlocked and gained throughout the Profession.
8) Now you’ve done some RP’ing, gained some rewards and made some decisions on what you want to do with your character, the next step is to Update! All you have to do is fill out the Update Template and are posted here. Updates are done on a Sunday, where a member of staff will go through all the details, correct any mistakes, and then finally approve them. Once your Update has been approved, you are then free to create your own Profile. Once the Profile Template has been filled out it is posted here. A more detailed run-through of Updates & Profile Guidelines is also available to read into.
9) Most of all, and potentially the most important thing for not just new members, but any member to the site; remember to have fun!
That’s pretty much everything you need to know to get yourself started on the path to becoming a site Legend! Of course, there’s a lot more to the site than just those 8 points, but most of it will fall into place as you continue as a member. If you’re unsure on anything, need more information, or have any questions at all, then feel free to ask a member of staff or even bring them up in the cbox, another member may be able to help you!
